I had to turn them on quite a few times as I was jumping in and out of games/videos trying to figure out how to get 3D to work.Ī sample 3D video can be found here. The same goes for rolling hills/mountains etc.Įvery time you turn off 3D, the glasses shut off (I think). Watching waves on the ocean was pretty cool, it offered a bit of dimension. Overall it’s not very amazing and breathtaking by any means, but if you look you can see depth. in the foreground they have a bit of dimension as opposed to background scenery etc. It’s not very special, but does add slightly to the experience. The higher the quality, the better the 2D -> 3D works. In 2D, the 560TI requires such compromise to even run at 60-90 FPS that I haven’t gone low enough (settings) to even reach 120FPS. I had set the depth to 10 (MAX) in the 3D menu where you turn 3D on. I just tried single player and when next to the other guys and in the little alleys and so on the 3D actually works surprisingly well. It looks ok/decent (actually pretty lame after seeing BFBC2 in 3D). There are many details that would be missed going back to dx9, but the 3D was better then I expected and better then borderlands. It was pretty impressive in my opinion, but also showed how much dx11 has evolved. I got it to work by changing the Documents\BFBC2\Settings.ini from DxVersion=auto -> DxVersion=9. In the menu, Performance -> quality HIGH = much better. Alt + Shift + V turns on “Virtual 3D”, without it 1 eye was black. It still looks pretty good quality wise, I can’t say I notice much difference even if it’s half the resolution x 2.Īfter discovering more settings, the 3D improved considerably.Īlt + Shift + F1 shows the shortcuts. You lose half the resolution (I believe) using Nvidia & Tridef 3D this way. I believe the recommended was 15 in the beginning until you adjust to 3D. In game needed to adjust settings to use Virtual 3D otherwise 1 eye was basically blue or black.Īdjusting Scene depth (Numpad + and -) didn’t have a ton of effect from 0-100. Starting Borderlands, needed to use side-by-side (NVIDIA only). The auto found borderlands and other steam games didn’t work directly. Using the Syncmaster 3D game launcher (Tridef 3D), it found some steam games.įirst you need to drag the borderlands icon into the Tridef from the desktop.

The 3D vision emitter is used to allow the nvidia driver to let you choose a generic CRT which enables the Samsungs 3D. I tried installing Nvidias 285.62 driver (the LAST one where nvidia 3D vision could be manipulated to work on a Samsung display, thanks for removing that option Nvidia), but you need the actual 3D vision emitter to get 3D vision to work, even though you use the Samsung monitor, emitter, and glasses. Nvidia 3D vision attempt (failed, need old driver + nvidia 3d emitter)

Windows screen resolution->Advanced Settings -> Monitor -> 120Hz The side-by side means the resolution is halved like passive 3D screens.ģ. The native 3D (Frame sequential) is meant for AMD, but side-by-side works with NVIDIA cards. The screen is glossy like my previous LG (which at the time of purchase was by far the best monitor on display), and colors are quite crisp in my opinion. Going from a 22” 1680x1050 to 27” 1980x1080 the pixels are noticeably larger and the screen is better suited slightly farther away. The left edge black is a bit lighter then the rest of the screen, but even with a black background it doesn’t stick out. My initial impressions: The screen will not sit perfectly straight up it’s always tilted just slightly back. I didn’t buy it for it’s looks, I bought it due to having an Nvidia card atm, and with plans on going AMD soon. It’s primarily meant for people who have the million questions like I did a few days ago before buying this monitor. This is from the perspective of being new to 3D.
